Course
Content
This is a new qualification which will allow electricians to demonstrate that they understand the fundamentals of inspection and testing with a course duration of 5 days.
The candidate should have a good knowledge of the electrical regulations and we would recommend the candidate holds 17th Edition 2382 certification.
This qualification was developed together with the electrical industry (including the NICEIC and ECA) in order to meet the needs of the industry and to provide candidates with an introduction in how to inspect and test (conduct the initial verification) of electrical installations.
It is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update training before going on to achieve the City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical
Installations (2391-10).
It is also suitable for those with limited experience of inspection and testing of electrical installations.
During the five day course candidates will cover the following:-
• The requirements of BS7671: 2008 for inspecting, testing and certification
• Use of Guidance Note 3, Inspection and Testing
• Practical demonstrations and ‘hands on’ practical experience
• Preparation for testing and inspection
• The visual inspection of electrical installations
• Testing: familiarisation with all testing methods and instruments
• Certification: familiarisation of the requirements of test certificates and their completion.
A practical assessment will be undertaken by each candidate of a maximum duration of 2 hours.
A closed book multiple choice online GOLA test (50 questions, 100 minutes duration) will be undertaken at the end of the course.
