Employer Information

Back in 1992 contractors formed Birmingham Electrical Training (BET) to facilitate the dedicated apprenticeship training for the electrical industry within the West Midlands. BET currently works with over 120 local and national employers to support and provide apprenticeship training to the desired national standards.

Our dedicated Recruitment Team will support you throughout the recruitment process to make sure that the apprentice is right for your business from day one.  We can provide you with a profiles of suitable candidates in your area from our existing database or alternatively we can advertise the vacancy on the Government’s NAS system.

The Apprenticeships that BET offer are funded by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA), candidates that start their apprenticeship/employed between 16 and their 19th birthday are fully funded for the duration of their apprenticeship (3.5 years). If candidates are employed/commence their apprenticeship after the age of 19, their training is only half funded by the Government, therefore an employer contribution is required for the duration of their training, currently this is £1,400 per year for the duration of the candidate’s apprenticeship/employment. The recruitment team will be able to explain this in more depth.

Alternatively are you a company that already has an electrical mate or occasional worker that you would like to enter on to the apprenticeship scheme? BET can also provide information, undertake assessment and sign up candidates to the apprenticeship providing they meet BETs entry requirements.

Alternatively, due to BET being funded by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) we can also advertise apprenticeship vacancies on the National Apprenticeship website. This is a provider only portal; this allows potential applicants to apply for vacancies that suit them. BET then undertakes their initial assessment and recruitment process, providing employers with a shortlist of candidates that meet the requirements they are looking for. More information on the National Apprenticeship Matching service can be provided by our recruitment team.
